DALTON JOHNSON

Dalton Johnson lives to tell stories about real people pushing themselves in the outdoors, set against landscapes from the High Sierra to the far reaches of every continent. He's constantly chasing projects with a strong sense of authenticity; stories built on real adventures and real people. The kind of stories that leave an audience asking who they are and what they plan to do with their one precious life.

He began his career almost by accident, picking up a camera for the first time during a “joke class” in his final quarter at Santa Clara University. The pull took hold on the road, somewhere between cycle-touring New Zealand and long stretches in California's High Sierra, where he found he couldn't shake the desire to tell a story from behind the lens. Writing came even earlier — his first story was a four-page Father's Day gift, typed out before he was ten.

Currently, Dalton works as a photographer, writer, and filmmaker for brands, tourism boards, and editorial outlets, with more than 160 campaigns and hundreds of published articles to his name. He's shot and written for clients including Nike, Patagonia, Four Seasons, PBS, GoPro, Ford, Big Agnes, Rivian Motors, and Aurora Expeditions, with work spanning hotels, expedition cruise lines, and outdoor companies across every continent.

Off assignment, he lives the same ethos he shoots — bikepacking, trail running, open water swimming, chasing big waves, and challenging himself rock climbing.
